The area is excavated, graded, and compacted. Forms are set to the correct dimensions and drainage pitch. Reinforcement (rebar or mesh) is placed for structural integrity.
Concrete with integral color is poured and leveled. Release agent is broadcast across the surface. Stamp mats are pressed into the concrete in sequence to create the pattern while the surface is still workable.
Excess release agent is washed off. Detail work is done on edges and joints. A high-quality sealer is applied to protect the color and finish. The site is cleaned and we walk through the finished work with you.
Stamped concrete gives you the look of natural flagstone, slate, brick, tile, or wood plank — with the durability and low maintenance of concrete. Sombrero Construction has been installing stamped and decorative concrete across the Rio Rancho and Albuquerque metro area for over 20 years. We offer a wide range of stamp patterns and color combinations, from Southwestern-inspired flagstone in warm earth tones to modern geometric patterns. Integral color is mixed into the concrete itself for consistent, fade-resistant color throughout. Release agents add surface depth and texture. Sealer protects the finish and brings out the color for years to come. Stamped concrete works beautifully for patios, driveways, pool decks, walkways, and courtyards. It's more affordable than natural stone pavers, requires less maintenance, and won't shift or settle over time like individual pavers can. Whether you're building a new driveway in Rio Rancho, adding a patio in Corrales, pouring a slab in Albuquerque's North Valley, or installing a block wall in Bernalillo — our crew knows the local soil, climate, and building requirements and delivers quality results on every project.

Get the look of flagstone, slate, or brick pavers at a fraction of the material and labor cost. Stamped concrete is one of the best value upgrades for outdoor spaces.
Choose from dozens of stamp patterns and hundreds of color combinations. Warm Southwestern earth tones, cool grays, or custom color matching — we'll find the right look for your home.
Unlike pavers, stamped concrete won't shift, grow weeds between joints, or require regular re-sanding. Periodic resealing every 2–3 years keeps it looking new.
Stamped concrete patios and driveways are typically completed in 2–3 days. Compared to laying individual pavers, the installation is much faster with a more uniform result.

Stamped concrete lasts 25+ years with proper installation and maintenance. Resealing every 2–3 years maintains the color and protects the surface. In New Mexico's dry, sunny climate, UV-resistant sealer is especially important.

The texture created by the stamp pattern provides natural slip resistance. For pool decks and areas that get frequently wet, we can add a non-slip additive to the sealer for extra traction.
Yes. Stamped concrete driveways are one of our most popular projects. They provide the look of stone or brick pavers with the structural durability of a reinforced concrete slab. Stamped driveways handle vehicle traffic without the shifting and settling that pavers can experience.
We offer dozens of integral color options and release agent colors. Popular choices in the Rio Rancho area include warm earth tones — terra cotta, sandstone, desert tan, adobe red — as well as cool grays and charcoal. We'll help you pick colors that complement your home.
Stamped concrete uses the same structural base as regular concrete — including proper subbase prep, reinforcement, and control joints. Control joints are incorporated into the stamp pattern so they're virtually invisible. With proper installation, stamped concrete performs just as well as any reinforced slab.
